In this class you will learn how to build growth-oriented businesses in the face of the real challenges entrepreneurs face: limited resources, considerable uncertainty, technological change, and a tendency towards action.
You will become familiar with an integrated framework for growth-oriented entrepreneurship with a “how-to” guide for startup strategy.
Three Parts of Entrepreneurial Strategy
Part 1: Four choices
Understand why entrepreneurs need to identify the correct plan and the four key choices that they need to make
Part 2: Four strategies
Understand the four strategies that can be applied to early-stage ideas to transform them into valuable, long-lasting companies
Part 3: Putting it into practice
Learn how to choose between alternate strategies and practice designing and executing them for specific companies and situations.
Course Highlights
Case Discussions, Simulations and Guest Speakers
Case discussions, in-class simulations, and guest speakers from multiple industries (technology, fashion, healthcare, and more) will provide a real-world understanding of strategic issues in a startup context. These will be combined with short theoretical lectures and group exercises with clear, concise takeaways.
Group Consulting Assignment
Work with real companies or your own ideas and apply strategies discussed in class to shape the company’s future course of action. Develop and formulate entrepreneurial strategies to provide solutions to challenges faced by growth-oriented companies.
In-Class Exercises
The class includes a large number of in class activities done in teams around developing, finding, and executing on a strategy.
